I'm almost wishing I hadn't changed MB. Now every minute or so, the icons on my taskbar will disappear. Then then they reappear. The only way that I have found to stop it is do a clean re-boot. But something triggers it again and I don't know what

A quick Google brought up this:
RIGHT click on the taskbar, choose "Taskbar settings", then scroll to the "Notification area" section, then the "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" and make sure "Always show all icons in the taskbar" is set to ON. Once that's done, scroll down through all the icon settings and enable all those you want showing.

I have Googled and Googled. What happens specifically is that the hidden icon, the network icon and everything else except clock cortina and notification icos disappear every 30 second for 30 seconds as well as typing bar which you can reset immediately. Doing a "clean boot" will stop it but something when activated starts it up again. The start menu is inactive also while until the icons reapper

No, I don't think that route is going to do it as most of those settings are on or off. It has to do with some app causing this disruption. I guess I will have enable each one to find the culprit.

Update; I have to suspect some application or file is causing this action. I can go into msconfig and do a clean boot the problem is solved until I activate some app which triggers the disappearing and reappearing of taskbar icons also screen will flash on and off. Suggested virus present but nothing found in scans. Really weird and annoying.

Have you tried running in Safe Mode to see if the problem occurs?

No, but are all applications available in Safe Mode?
