This sort of thing is usually a permissions issue so

    - do start~run~services.msc and see if Task Scheduler is started. If not, right-click on it and click on Start. If it is running and things still don't work

    - try setting up the task with the administrator account and password to use when it runs. You will probably need to have a non-blank password on your admin account as well so if it has none, add one.

Hmm. the service itself.. and you've already reset permissions.. hmm..

Go into regedit, find this key and export the whole branch as a TXT, and paste results back

    Task Scheduler

    Hey All,
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions! I figured it out last night as I was trying to sleep. It seems a security program that I had run had somehow disabled the task scheduler. When I unchecked all the options and rebooted the service was started and running. The proggy is XPSpy. Thanks again!! :D

"Somehow "? You set the option :)

Has to be checked - not a default.
