I have a new XP and I set the Properties of the Customize button under Notification Area to Always Show the cpu meter. However, when I do a Cntl+Alt+Delete and get the actual TM, the little cpu meter rarely shows in the System Tray like it always does in my old XP (it's not in the "hidden" part either - I have seen it there only a few times).

How can I get the $#%@ cpu meter to always show like it's supposed to?

    thanks

Right-click on the 'taskbar', select 'Task Manager', then in task manager... select 'Options' and make sure 'Hide when minimized' is selected. Minimize task manager (don't close it) and the CPU meter should remain in the notification area. You can restore task manager when you need to by right-clicking on the CPU meter and selecting 'Restore'. HTH

    Thanks,

I'll give it a try. I can't believe that the lowly Task Manager has so many different locations where you can set various options.

I too have this problem with a "disappearing" Task Manager It happens a couple of times a month and MIGHT be down to starting Task Manager very early in the loading of Windows.

After lots of unsuccessful messing about, I've now become resigned to simply closing it and reloading it again. This sophisticated :) workaround always works.

    Regards,
    Brian.
