System sounds

    I had to reinstall Windows 2000. Don't remember how I did it more than a year ago. A CD will play, but video presentation, e.g. from my ISP, are silent. Any of the system sounds could best be described as a very faint pop or hiss (<< 1 second duration).

    Probably should download the latest driver for your sound card, and test it from within Windows control panel sound applet.
