For some reason SR don't want to restore to un earlier date. I am choosing a restore point, I can see the bar filling until the end meaning that it's trying to restore and then reboots. Before I get to desktop a screen pops-up saying that it couldn't restore into the date I have choosen and that no changes have been made.
Any solutions on this or is there another program I could use so I can restore my system? I realy need to go back a couple of days. From what I can see on the calendar I have quite a lot of restore points.

P.S Bardon my English, I am Greek. :)

No problem, Savvas - Your English is far better than my Greek :)

You may find some help here - under s = system restore
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

An alternative to System Restore, which seems to cause many problems, is GoBack by Symantec.

It won't restore to a point before you installed it, but for the future - worth considering.

I really need to restore to an earlier date. The problem is that I have deleted some keys in registry that...I shouldn't.
I'll go read the page now. Thanx for the reply.

    OOPPS !!!!!

That might be the " KEY " to the problem.

I agree with PeteC Find and alternative.

Nothing there Pete except a paragraph saying that there were some problems before SP1. I have SP1 installed.

Try a search on the Board for 'System Restore' in the XP forum.

    Hello Savvas

Try the sfc command to see if whatever registry keys you took off can be replaced:

Start > Run > cmd sfc /scannow and have your XP install disc handy. Space between sfc and /

sfc - system file checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

If you want to see what was replaced, right click My Computer > manage, expand event viewer > system.

If this doesn't work, either a repair of XP or forget about SR and go with either GoBack or Ghost.

    Regards - Charles

Forgot about restoring the last good copy of the registry.

Control Panel > Help & Support > type Registry into the search box > In the resulting page, click on related topics: the instructions to try to restore a good copy of the registry will appear.

    Regards - Charles
