I have no idea what or when this happened. The way I found out that all my restore points had been wiped out is because I had downloaded Stardock Object Desktop which came highly rated in a news letter that I subscribe to (Kim Komando), all the downloads from her site is supposed to be fully tested and spyware/adware free.

Anyway, I installed Object Desktop and then the next time I rebooted I noticed that it took forever for windows to start. It would like be on the start screen where it shows your drives, etc and how to get to the configuration screen, then finally it would get past that and then get a black screen longer than normal. So I uninstalled Stardock, which is the only thing I had installed in over a month, so figured that is what caused the problem. It uninstalled clean, nothing left in the registry, but on reboot still the same problem with it staying on the same screen too long. It says to get to the configuration screen do (Ctrl + I) however, I tried that and not a thing happened.

I did some research and it said if you go in safe mode your restore points would more than likely show up. NOPE, they didn't and still the same slow screen and I'm just sitting here hitting F8 to get to the start menu and must have hit it 60 times b4 it goes to the next screen where I can select safe mode.

I ran SpyBot and AdAware and it did find some things but nothing of any real danger, just basic tracking cookies, which I let it clean. I ran SFC and it didn't find any errors.

I want to know what happened to my restore points??? While it was sitting idle this morning it made a restore point, but I don't want to use that since it made it with whatever is causing this problem.

Anyone know why my restore points vanished?? I have security suite software, I don't think I have a virus or trojan, but suppose it's possible, but nothing is showing when I run a scan. I haven't downloaded anything in a long time have rarely even used my computer in the last month except to pay my bills.

    Recommendations welcome!!

Nope not dual booting, I've seen lots of posts about that kind of problem with dual booting.

Power went off today, when I got home from work had to restart my computer and didn't have that hang on startup like before, maybe my computer just needed a rest since I leave it on 24/7, but that still doesn't explain why my restore points vanished. It now is making regular restore points but I don't understand what happened to the others.
