I did a update for my printer the other day. Because the printer wouldn't work on a windows 7 x64 system. It was working up to this, but after the update, it wouldn't work.

So I went to do a restore to a ealier date. It ran it's course. After it was done the screen went black and only the cursor on the screen was there. I went into safe mode to do a system restore. The next button isn't highlighted. That's when I got the error message.

I called my tech support at Costco, and she said I need to do a complete uninstall and new install. Seem like such a large move. I was wondering if anyone had any work a round idea's for this problem. I don't have a recovery disk.

When I try to restore, this message comes up.

    dinotify.exe

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item. (0x80042302)

    Many thanks!

Is this for the Dell system listed in your profile? 1st thing would be to create the recovery disk.

For instructions on how to create System Recovery Disks, refer to the latest version of the Dell Backup and Recovery Manager User's Guide, under the section Dell Recovery Media.

    system restore

Had to do a complete install, so the problem is fixed. Now just to reload the programs we had.
