well this has started a whole mess of problems that has to be related. First Firefox went on the fritz and it would always close when clicking the address bar. then i system restored back to a couple of days to prevent having to delete all my extensions. same issue. so i did it again. same problem

thats when it got strange. i called up system restore to go back to todays date and find a new solution....nothing happend.....called it up again and it opened up, but only with the title and the rest was a white blank screen (like it was stuck loading) so i click around and found that 'users'' (in control panel) was very similar, my search button comes up blank too except that there is just the cartoon dog at the bottom, nothing else!

i've gone into safe mode/command prompt to call up system restore the old fashion way...no difference.

i'm very worried about this as im feeling crippled with everything i do and have spent all day trying to find a solution, nothing seems to be working not (http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm) #278.....nothing....

please tell me there is some way of saving this

    Hello Abominable,

Have you tried un-installing FF which seems to be where the problem, whatever it is, first showed up?

As far as SR is concerned, I think it's broken.

You might give sfc a try to fix possible OS corruption.

Start > Run > type cmd > ok (opens the command box) > type sfc /scannow at the blinking cursor.

sfc - system file checker, retrieves the correct version of the file from %Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache or the Windows installation source files, and then replaces the incorrect file.

To see what was replaced, right click My Computer > manage, expand event viewer > system.

You need the XP install disc.

    Regards - Charles
