Any recommendations on how much disk space to allocate for my system restore setting. I now have it set to 5 percent of my disk which is 20 GB. Is that excessive or not enough ?
    Using Windows XP home.
    Tks

20 Gb is more than adequate and not really excessive on a 400Gb drive if you have room to spare.

The more space set aside for System Restore the larger the number of Restore points available. Need to consider how far back in time you would want to go.

I currently allocate ~6 Gb to System Restore on the OS partition which is ~50 Gb and that holds 26 restore points back to the beginning of November.

BTW - if you have more than one partition/drive only allow System Restore to monitor the OS drive/partition. There are no system files on non-OS drives.

    Tks for the reply.
I worded my question poorly. My total HD space is 20 GB however it looks as my 5 percent is a reasonable figure. Can't remember the last time I had to use a system restore point but I know I must keep a portion for it.

Ah -I see :) Should be enough - a way to check is to see how many restore points are available to you - if you're happy with the number then your 1 Gb is OK.
Did you catch my typo? - :( Should be Gb of course.
