    Help!

I have recently encountered a strange problem. If I let my computer sit idle for any length of time (several hours), when I come back to it I often find an error message saying:

(usually it's kernal32, but it can be other modules, such as msaft.dll). Ctrl+alt+delete does not work and when I try to close the error window, the system freezes.

Otherwise the computer seems to work fine and all programs (that I've checked) perform as expected.

I can't figure out what is causing the problem. I keep a pretty tidy and clean system. have scanned for viruses--zip, nada, no help.

I am running win98se on an AMD1000 t-bird with an Asus mb and 512 of ram. The system is about 3 years old and this is really the first problem I've had with it.

    Thanks for helping...in advance.

    Get a second opinion.

System32 is not a Windows app, and there is at least one virus, that spreads using that name.

You can also look in Msconfig for that app, and unselect it. And check in Win.ini for Load or Run statements.

As well, in System.ini on the Shell= line.
