Hi and welcome to the BBS,

Does it (almost) always refer to ACCESS_VIOLATION? We can analyse that crash report, but it may not help much if other reports are (much) different.

I did some checking at the MS Knowledgebase. I noted that Ntdll.dll has some issuses with audio players and some hotfixes have been issued for similar, but not the same, problem. Looking at your report, it looks like it occurred running Windows Media Player (wmp).

    I found this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286470/en-us
This may only tell us what is happening, not why.

Trying to read that into your report, along with the hotfix issues, I might think the problem is being caused by having an audio player (several audio players?) running and if you run your games there is a conflict (access violation) about "taking control" of the audio system.

I suggest you look at stopping/closing any audio/media players before running your game. Check that they are not running in the background (Task Manager). If they run at startup use the Tools -> Options menu to stop them and just run them from All Programs.

I might be way off track, but then again, maybe not. It was interesting research and I would suggest that anyone interested in Debugging have a look at that MS information.

    Matt
