I have a w2k machine with 192 meg of RAM. When the CPU utilization goes over 9x%, it beeps three times with an ascending beep and then starts the beeping over. This continues until the utilization drops below 5x%.

I have monitored tasks & they are all legimate tasks. It doesn't make any difference what the pgms running are or combinations of pgms.

I don't have external speakers on this machine and really don't want to disconnect the internal speaker.

    Odd behavior indeed.

Have you checked the event logs to see if there is more information there?

This one has me baffled. Never heard of anything similar and can't search up anything that looks related.

If you have an OEM system, maybe a call to their tech support.

If you have a standard Microsoft OS load, a tech support call with them might give some help.

    System Beeping

I am beginning to think this has something to do with a BIOS setting. I have been tracking every process that is running and terminating tasks to narrow it down. No matter what I kill it still beeps ascending, but eventullay stops.

Have looked at the BIOS settings, but I haven't seen anything that says for it to beep. I also reset it to factory defaults & it still beeps.

#@*!! annoying when you are really thinking about something.

    Thanks for your help.
