My wife's computer has been plaguing her for some time. It will suddenly freeze for 5-10 seconds (sometimes longer) then resume. In Task Manager there is a process called "System and Compressed Memory" that is taking 20-25% of the CPU time. In my system, it uses less than 1%.

I Googled this process and found more than 20 references to it slowing down the system It has to do with storing compressed pages in memory instead of on disk. It is also related to ntoskrnl.exe. She does not need this since there is plenty of memory on her computer.

I have tried the suggestions for disabling it but it has not gone away. These include disabling SuperFetch, setting the paging file size to automatic, and disabling RunFullMemoryDiagnosticEntry. None of these worked for me.

I believe her drivers are up to date. This is making her computer very hard to use.

    Any other suggestions?

Her computer is an hp 23-h150z, with an AMD A6-5200 quad processor and 12GB memory running Windows 10 Home.
