Symantec subscription is running out on 23 November but when I tried to renew, a message came up telling me that "Your browser is not supported because it is not considered safe enough to conduct an online transaction. Please upgrade your browser and then begin your session.â€

I have Windows XP and have been using Netscape 4.7 through my local ISP.
I downloaded Netscape 7.2 overwriting the previous version 4.7. I have no problems getting my email and I was able to keep all my old emails and addresses. However, when I tried to renew my Symantec subscription I’m getting the same message to upgrade my browser.
In Netscape 4.7 I used the Netscape Messenger/Communicator to retrieve my messages but Netscape 7.2 uses "Netscape Mail and Newsgroupsâ€. I noticed that when I clicked on the Symantec Renewal button "Netscape 4.7" would appear just briefly so I assume that Symantec does not recognize my update.

I’ve tried contacting Symantec interactive troubleshooter without any luck.
I’m at a total loss as to what I must do to renew my subscription?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ursula, you can't overwrite 4.7 with 7.2, no matter hard you try. Prove it to yourself looking on the hard drive. But, overwriting is a very bad practice, because it causes all sort of problems. Unless you did something tricky you should have in the Control Panel|Add/Remove two entries for Netscape, 4.7 and 7.2, And both programs can be run, simultaneously, because they are radically different.
I have no answer about the Symantec message, but it may have gotten confused by your set up. I am confused, and so are you, right?

    Ursula,

Westside is correct that they separate programs. I use Netscape 7.1 for my browsing and 4.7 for my mail. I can have them running at the same time with no problems. If you can't renew in either Netscape, you try going through IE. As much as I would rather stay away from IE, some sites just won't completely work on anything else. I have similiar problems purchasing at a couple sites before and have had to IE. I actually have 7 days to renew my subscription also.
