hey guys got a (maybee stupid) question about the firewall i saw always the icon of it at bottom right. But now that i choosed hide icon it's gone and i know its still runnin because when i press ctrl alt and del i still see it. I tryed to open the program EXE file at windows explorer but then nothing happens (because its already there) Someone knows how i get my icon back? It's not the windows hide icon thing just when i right click on the firewall icon.

    Many thanks.

    Good point :D

What happens if you ctrl-alt-del to close Sygate and then re-launch it via the Start Menu?

Hmmm. Ok, how about installing a new program and seeing whether that calls up the main window when it tries to connect? Here's a tiny application which will attempt to establish a connection when executed.

brett, that didnt do much only asked for the program to connect to the internet to get info for time but that was just a yes or no window. No option to go to console or anything :( I've tryed to disable the firewall at services.msc then i rebooted it didnt start but when i tryed to start it manually nothing happens only will start when i set it at services. Is this some Windows XP (pro) bug or something? any idea's left? i cant think of any. And uninstalling the program might save the info he needs at the register and i dont know much about that so i better keep out of it as i destroyed on my laptop my win2k register :(

    Try this:

    1) Navigate to WindowsXP's location/version of MSCONFIG > STARTUP.
    2) Verify that "SYGATE\SPF\SMC.EXE -startgui" is checked. (Most likely, it isn't).
    3) Reboot your computer.

You should now see the SYGATE PERSONAL FIREWALL icon in your SysTray.

    Hi All.

When you choose "Hide Sygate Personal Firewall Pro Systrem Tray Icon" in the Sygate Options menu it does indeed hide everything. Even if you switch to Sygate in the Windows Task Manager it doesn't want to come back up.

At any time that Sygate is running, find the original shortcut in your "Start" menus and run it again. In other words, Sygate is running and you click on the shortcut and run it again. The main window will pop up and you can choose Tools/Options/General and uncheck the item. Works great.

In your original post you noted that you did this, but there's a catch. You ran SMC.EXE using explorer. The original shortcut for Sygate has a trigger attached to it. SMC.exe -start. You have to either run the original shortcut or go to Start/Run/ and find SMC.EXE and add a space and -start, then click on ok. That will run it as the original shortcut does. This will bring up the main Sygate menu and you can change it back.

Sometimes I think those guys and gals just love to do these things to us when they put these programs together.
