    Hi mates

In winxp.prof.sp3 using 'switch user' requires 'Welcome screen'. Is it possible to have 'switch user' option together with 'Ctl-Alt-Del dialog' without the 'welcome screen'. This is possible in win7.

    Pointers appreciated.

Yes, but not really. I mean, so long as you have no open applications there's no need to use Fast User Switching at all. Just use Logout.

Fast User Switching keeps all of the user's running apps opened so when he returns he can pick up where he left off.

I never use it though on any systems I setup for clients as it is less secure than Logout. And if disable Fast User Switching vis Services and disable the Welcome screen one can then logon as Administratot too just by typing Administrator as the username and its password. (Admin logon is unavailable from the Welcome screen unless in Safe Mode)

A quick Thank you before digging deeper.

    PS
Interesting to learn Fast Switching is a Service that can be stopped from there instead of doing it at the Control Panel > User Accounts.

What i found is with applications running in 2 users profile, even if u can't stop switching at the Ctrl Panel > User Accounts, you can do so in Services. I presume this is what u are trying to tell me.

You mention 'disable the Welcome screen one ..' besides disabling at the Ctrl Panel > User Account we can do it at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\WinLogon; value from 1 to 0
