My computer has slowed down to a crawl lately. Think I have pegged why but when I try to start it in services, it says that it cannot find file needed. What do I do about that. Please. I also have only 3 items starting in startup. This happens when loading system, browser or clicking on any link at all. I am using FF9. Also happens when I use IE9.

downloaded tweak prefetch and it will not letme discontinue prefetch or disable it. Those two commands were shaded out.

Having read through a few of the threads here .....

    http://www.google.com/search?source...GLL_en-GBGB352GB352&q=Superfetch+not+starting

It would seem that there is no sure fire solution.

However it would be worth running System File Checker and see if that points to or replaces missing files.

Emptying the prefetch folder worked for some, but not for others and would be worth a try.

The last post in this thread is interesting and may be relevant ....

I am not familiar with the tweek prefetch tool, but your comment of options being greyed out is worrying.

Thanks for the reply, everything looks okay, tried that yesterday. The thing is that everything is just so slow. Boot up is really slow and browsing hangs. Indicator stops reacting and stops then starts again after a while. This is with IE or FF.
