We recently upgraded from Netscape 4.79 to 7.02 and used it for 8 days; then suddenly could not send email. Receiving mail is no problem.
I read the posting from dpeters and followed Ramona's instructions - still cannot send. (I did not have to make any changes.)
Tech advisors at our ISP have been helpful but have not been able to solve the problem. What they did do was manage to delete the email I had received in that 8 days. Is there any way to get it back?

    Welcome to the Forum, Knitter!

    Hi Knitter,

I covered a lot of ground in the dpeters thread, so why don't you tell us exactly what workarounds you have tried. That will make it much easier to solve your mail issue.

Unless you deleted a Profiles folder which contained your Mail, then the Mail should still be on your HD. You don't say which OS you run, so look here for Windows 98:
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\mailaccountname
    Here for Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\mailaccountname

NOTE: These files are hidden by default.
    To see hidden files:
    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options
    2. Click the View tab
    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders

Your Mail files will be listed there, and can be opened with Notepad. Hopefully the lost mail will still be contained in the files.

In your SMTP settings, do you have a Port # listed?
Have you enabled "Use secure connection (SSL)?

This is ground no doubt covered with your ISP, but covering this ground again to ensure these settings are correctly configured.

    Thanks,

    Ramona :D
