I have just upgraded to Office 2003 and find to my dismay that the Office Shortcut Bar has been dropped from this version.

Does anyone know of a third party solution or workaround?

I'm know I could use the Quicklaunch bar, but that's somewhat crowded already.

You could make another toolbar with shortcuts to the apps on it. Create a folder in window explorer and then put the shortcuts you want in it. Then, right click on the taskbar>toolbars>new toolbar and browse to the folder you made. Then drag it onto the desktop and size it the way you want it. You can also right click on a blank spot on the toolbar and choose to either show or not show text, and choose large or small icons. Also, you'd have to have it open all the time. The alternative would be to go through the create new toolbar routine each time you wanted to use it. Don't think you'd care for that. On the plus side, if you leave it open all the time it should be open again whenever boot your computer.

I realize this probably isn't ideal but you did ask for possible work arounds. :)

Thanks, Zander - I'll look into that option.

A Shortcut Toolbar on the Task Bar is a fair substitute for the Office Shortcut Bar - I can live with that :)

    Thanks again.

Ok Pete. I have a couple of them I use from time to time. I prefer to get them off my taskbar though. I have one attached to the top of my screen, set to autohide and always on top. It's kinda handy that way. It's out of the way but always there when you need it.
