This log is off my nieces laptop IE keeps opening itself to her home page please help. I ran spybot and adaware and deleted nasties.

Is this happening while she is on AIM ? If so , remove the aimtoolbar.Uninstall and have HJT fix these

I actually suspect it is mcafee updater. It has a habit of doing this when there is an update and the automatic updater did not handle it. You need to go to the mcaffee control center and run the updater manually.

 

thank you very much. I am posting this from her laptop I haven't been redirected off this page yet so we have made progress. I was able to get through both a macafee scan found and deleted 1 virus and 1 rav online scan (clean). I am re posting a new hjt log becouse the macafee let me update and run scan but I can't get the virus scan to enable,the icon in the task bar is black. The enble link in security center doesn't take me anywhere. If there are no clues in hjt log I can postthe msconfig startup becouse I turned off some of those too but don't see an obvious missing one.

No problem. I only suggested aim if it was causing a problem. Most of these toolbars have popup blocking and other filters, which when you have multiple ones can sometimes conflict.

My suggestion regarding mcaffee is that if you cannot find another solution you may need to uninstal it, restart and reinstall. The Mcafee Install CD may also have a repair the current installation option which is well worth trying.
Nothing which would account for it in the hijackthis log, but it is possible that one key entry has been disabled.
Do you remember the name of the virus you removed?
Does the mcafee quarentine or log indicate what it was?
Often just running your antivirus is not enough. You must go online and check their database to find if there are any manual repair steps which must be undertaken to correct the additional damage they may have caused.
