Out of my comfort zone here so I thought I'd ask the fine minds on the BBS :)

I've just recently been given the opportunity to buy a second hand LCD (~2 years old) at a very reasonable price with the added advantage of try before you buy :D

Anyway, I've had it for a couple of days and yesterday had a stuck pixel, UDPixel sorted it after a few seconds but I was wondering if this indicates an inherent fault with the monitor or just a fluke?

I don't mind if I have to UDP the thing every few months but if this is going to turn out to be a regular (eg weekly) occurence then I'll probably return the thing.

The main reason I ask is I've had my laptop (from new) for about 10 month now and never had a stuck pixel on that.

One good thing though is there are no dead pixels.

I think that is a maybe yes, maybe no question.
I have a stuck red pixel, that is that small and not in a spot where it irritates me, so I hardly ever take any notice of it.
I think that would also be the main factor in your case, if it is not in the middle of the screen and smirking at you, probably you will get used to it and forget about it.
There are other methods as well to try and get rid of them, but none are guaranteed.
To me the overall quality of the picture screen, colors and text are more important than a occasional stuck pixel.

Was thinking that myself hawk due to the lack of responses.

It's currently being used as a second monitor (off my laptop) but the stuck pixel (also red BTW) was irritating, I don't mind if they gang up in the corners or sides but this one was sticking his tongue out at me :)

Agreed, anyway I've another week to try it before I part with cash, I'll see how things go. I'll mark this resolved but if anyone has further advice please feel free to share :)
