Strange occurence...can log in okay but...

    I'm admin on my home computer [Pentium 4 3GHz DDR, 1G RAM, 160 GB hard drive, Win XP home].

    I can log in okay and it displays loading settings, without reaching the desktop it automatically logs me off...whats up with that?? The process repeats itself...:confused:
    Computer was on standby since yesterday, this occured very early this morning.

    Tried rebooting, shutdown, last known good configuration, safe mode to no avail, and everything looks good in the bios.

    Help, I need to access the computer over the weekend.


    Appreciate any help or comments...except for the dreaded format word.

    PS. Will try repair with XP CD tonight, oh btw luckily the computer is still under warranty...
