    Hello,

Not sure if this is an operating system or hardware problem or both.

My wife turned on her laptop this morning and was greeted with this message on a black screen. "Ready for EC/KBC update. Place the EC/KBC update diskette in the drive and press any key when ready to proceedâ€.

The computer is a vintage Toshiba 2000 running Windows 2K. It is connected to a Sony CD-RW drive. Like I said, vintage. Also there is a sound coming from the built in speaker that sounds like a 331/3 record ( remember those) at the end of play that is still going around the turntable with the arm still on the record.

Is a call to the PC Phuneral Parlor (PC/PP) in order?
    Thanks,

    TRoof

    Thanks Bill,

I gave the tab key a few whacks as suggested but to no avail.

The other option, taking it to a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider for service is a bit of a stretch.

Just a thought, but could I add a wireless keyboard to the computer and would it ignore the factory keyboard at start up or would the factory keyboard be the first thing the computer looked for? If I had one available I would give it a try but I don't.

    Thanks,

    TRoof
