I have Windows XP on my computer. When I click "Network Connections" I see my internet provider's icon, and I also see an icon called "Local area connection" (I don't know how this icon got there). When I right-clicked on this icon I did not see "Delete" on the right-click menu. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this icon? Thank you very much.

Sufiice it to say "Leave it alone" it is your network. XP put it there and had you been sucessful at deleteing it you would not have a network connection (read internet)!

    Hi, Abx ~

Are you talking about on your desktop or in the Contol Panel?

To Bruce G.F. Krymow: This icon is on my "Network Connections" screen whenever I have the screen on.

    Desktop Icon

    Hi

I have just changed my setting to classic and the Network Icon is on my desktop - Is it safe to delete it from here ? I know I need it in the control panel. I also know the less on the desktop the better thus this is an shortcut I really don't need to see.

I do not want to delete - just in case ..........

    Hi, Mini ~

If it is on your desktop, you may safely delete it.
