Strange File Names

    My system.ini file was blank this morning (0kb). Jumped through some hoops and I'm functional again. No virus found on my computer but I do have some oddly named files loose in my Windows Folder. I use W98 original version with various patches installed.

    I cannot delete these files with weird names nor can I rename them. The names are like _______.| or just | or PO| .
    The straight line in the names is thick like a solid box.

    Can I safely get rid of them and how?

    Are these backslashes, forwardslashes, or what?
    What are the file names? Do they bother you? Does your computer work OK?
