I'm using both Firefox 26.0 and Pale Moon 24.3 (64-bit version of Firefox) on 64-bit Win7 Pro SP1.

When I open a webpage which normally updates itself on a regular basis, such as Weather Underground, I get a banner at the top of the page telling me that FF (or PM) has prevented the page from automatically redirecting to another page. Then, if I click on the "Allow" button at the right end of the banner, that banner is replaced by a second banner telling me that the browser has prevented the page from automatically reloading.

I can find nothing in about:config that has any bearing on this behavior but, obviously, I would like it to stop.

    Any thoughts?

Choose Tools > Options > Advanced > General

Uncheck Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload a page

That works in FF, but there's no such option in PM. The real problem is that I WANT the browsers to update such pages automatically. As it is, I have to do it manually.

    Are you sure?

    Pale Moon 24.0 changelog

Since Pale Moon does not aim to provide accessibility features, the (default off) preferences for them that were left in the Options dialog have been removed.

Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page. This feature is often misunderstood as a safety/security feature, but that is definitely not the intended purpose of it (it's an accessibility feature for people with special needs display devices where it would be confusing if a page automatically changes).

Even though the option has been removed from the Options, since it's meant as an accessibility aid for special display devices (and not as a security feature), you can still toggle the option in about:config in Pale Moon, which will have pretty much the same effect.

Toggle "accessibility.blockautorefresh" in the about:config settings page.

Thanks ... at least it got rid of the banners.
