Hi ... I am using both Office Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express 6 , With my pop3 accounts from my ISP , Is it possible to retreat emails that are stored on my ISP server after doing a reformat ? Or Is this something that I should ask my ISP ? Thanks

BTW I forgot to make a copy/save some emails that were left on my email draft box after I did a reformat

If you set up your email account in Outlook and Outlook Express exactly the way it was set up before (assuming you've still got the same account with the same ISP), the mail server has no way of knowing your computer has been reformatted.

Of course, if you've changed ISPs, your mailbox on your old ISP will no longer be accessible and most likely no longer exists.

If you want to continue leaving copies of messages on the server, be sure to enable that option before you let it check for mail or else it'll just delete the messages from the server when it downloads them.

    Hello Miz ..

If I understand you correctly If my emails get loaded onto my computer email folder inbox , Once there the ISP server no longer holds them , Is this correct ? I had emails that were download onto my inbox but I forgot to save them or make a backup of them , I did a reformat and now I am just curious if its still possible to redownload them again ?

    TIA

Within your email account is a setting to "leave mail on server. "

By default, it is turned off.
When you setup a new account after a format, tons of old mail will either download or not, depending on this setting.

    Terry Fox--
As Steve R Jones has said, whether and how long the ISP keeps your email messages usually depends on how you set your email account up. The emails should stay on the ISP's server as long as you tell the ISP to. The setting is in OE Tools|Accounts|highlight the email account|Properties|Advanced tab. Look under the "Delivery" section. If you have set that so the ISP should keep the mail, it may be downloaded when you reconnect your email service or if the ISP allows you to access the messages from their web site, they should be there.
Note this applies only to incoming mail. I doubt you will find any messages you sent from your POP3 account. The only sent messages that usually are kept are those that you send from the ISP's email website.
