Bill thanks. I have now solved all the problems and everything is 100%.
The Realtek site proved impossible but after studying various Microsoft KB's articles and getting the hang of interpreting dump files I sourced drivers elsewhere.

FS2004 is great now with the new graphics card and the 600Watt PSU is definitely needed by this card.

Also tried my old graphics card to prove it was not ever the problem and it works ok.

Under Human Interface Devices the HID compliant game controller is back now & that was an issue.

Also the MPU-401 compatible MIDI device is also back.

Convinced these problems were caused by Automatic Updates.
    regards

Friends do not let friends download device drivers from Windows Automatic Updates.

I am happy to hear the good news that your issue has been sorted.

    Best regards.
