A friend sent me a link to a video she's produced. She lives in Japan, so when the link started to load, a window popped up and told me I needed to load the Japanese character set to complete the download. I didn't know any better, so I clicked "OK." When it finished doing whatever it does, it wanted me to reboot to complete the installation, but I cancelled that and went ahead and viewed the video. Having done so, I have no idea why it wanted to download the character set, as there was no text at all in the video.

Now, however, every time I boot or open Word, Windows Installer pops up and wants to complete the installation. I don't need or want the Japanese character set and I'd like to stop Windows Installer from trying to install it. Clicking "cancel" is all very well, but it takes a while for the window to close and it's annoying as heck.

Any ideas on how to make it quit this? TIA!

Rose Queen--If no one comes up with a better idea, I would allow that character set to install to completion (hopefully getting rid of the messages). I doubt it takes much room on your PC. If you are lucky, you may even then be able to uninstall it from Control Panel|Add/Remove.
I do not have Word. You could also look around the various Word tabs to see if there is a way to uninstall.
