Hi all. I have XP Pro and have 3 users on 1 PC. One of my users likes to explore and mess around. Is there anyway to stop users going into a particular drive ( I have 1 80GB split into 2 partitions C: & D:(backup) )

    Thanks for the help

You can certainly stop a user from getting into the drive. However, if c: is your system partition/drive, that would bring a few problems with it such as
    - they could no longer do anything such as run programs
    - not even positive they could log on

If you need to keep them from doing specific things or you want to lock them out of data folders, you can do that. Best to be using NTFS since it has lots more security options & features than FAT32.

You can always do what I have done when I found some kids into stuff that they do not belong into.

It is called "Pull the Plug." Then listen to them scream " WHY did you do that !!.

My answer " Because YOU WERE INTO THINGS you had no business being into. " Two of them went home crying to Dad. Dad asked me about it. When I told him why he said to his kids. " NO using Uncle Bobs Computer for a Week. " And HE MADE it stick.

WOW !!! Amazing how fast the learned.

I do not believe in lots of passwords. I believe much more in rules and teaching kids ( AND ADULTS AT TIMES ) to obey them.
