    Found this site http://www.helpdesk.bham.ac.uk/support/popups.htm

it gives instructions on stopping the messenger popup window that sometimes gets displayed in windows.

we've found it very useful - also a lot of our clients have too.

    Messenger Service

markjrees--Thanks for a helpful link, but it should be noted that the popups are from Messenger Service, not Windows Messenger which is another program. The fix in your link is indeed for Messenger Service.

To get rid of Windows Messenger: (Not Messenger Services)

    Start>Run>

    RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

    click okay

    (From the Windows-help.net site)

If you don't use it, dump it- It wants to auto start and get on the net every chance it gets.
