Stop show common folder tasks on desktop

    Hello folks,

    I'm trying to help a friend with a small problem, on her desktop common folder task show up on the left side. I know how to correct this with Windows XP but I don't have a clue with Windows 98. Any suggestions? Thanks. :)

    Are you talking about this:
    Web View versus classic or custom...

    In any case the folder options are in the My Computer icon via the toolbar. Selecting classic rather than web view should get rid of the right side web style view. May I suggest Custom with the options set as shown in the link above. I also believe this leaves a view option in each folder as to whether you wish to view the file in web view. A tick will either enable it or disable it.
