Netscape is changing the time stamp on its bookmarks file every time Netscape is run, even when the user makes no changes to the bookmarks. To be clear, no changes are made to the bookmarks file, yet the time stamp is always equal to the exact time Netscape was last closed.

Is there a way to get Netscape to leave the time stamp alone on its bookmarks file when no changes are made by the user?

I don't know if this will help but in Firefox 1.0 you can go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks->Edit->Refresh Live Bookmarks.
In my case Refresh Live Bookmarks is greyed out, but it might not be in yours if you have the same menu options.

    Alex,

Even though you have made no obvious changes, I believe that the file is changed by Moz/NS....
    i.e.
The file is loaded into memory, Any bookmarked site you visit will alter the "Last Visited" field....ergo-the file is changed. When you exit Moz/NS the file is written back to HD.

At least that is how I see it.....
