My Dell Inspiron 6000 will not boot and comes up with a stop code 0xoooooo7E which I cannot get around. Will not start in safe mode either. I have tried various potential solutions found on internet but to no avail. Can anyone assist please?

Thanks for your reply. This started last friday, following an update of windows the night before, which I had, for some time, been receiving a pop up window saying one was available. I downloaded it if only to prevent the reminder cropping up each time I started the computer and do not know exactly what upgrade consisted of. The BSoD says attempt made to execute non-executable memory and gives advice to check hard disk space (cannot access this information due to BSoD), disable the BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing (again cannot do this), start in safe mode to disable components and check that software is correctly installed. Computer will not start in safe mode so I cannot do this either. Hope this provides enough information to help get to the route of the problem. thnx

Were you supplied with a Windows installation disk?

If you cannot boot into Windows or into any of the other selections in the Startup Options menu, you could boot to the Windows installation disk and go through the installation until you press F8 to accept the Eula. After that, you will be offered the option to "Repair the current installation of Windows ", select that.

If you had the option of running a System Restore, you could try that.

Do a search on the Dell website for the error. Also check in their forums.

If you can get the system working again, get the major driver and software updates from Dell for your system (use their Service Tag method of identifying your computer components), before allowing Windows Updates to install.

I expect you need to update your drivers and/or software before installing the Windows Updates. See if there are other similar threads on the Dell Community Forums.

First I would use the Last known good configuration option from the Startup menu.
