Daughter's computer has Windows XP -

When you close down it appears to be closing down normally. But always finishes up with a screen with title message error

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

The bottom of the screen has the following technical information message:

    ***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xc000000A, 0x000002DC, 0x000000FF, 0x804E35E9)

Anyone any clues where to start checking with this one or is there a tool that tells us what was being closed down when it crashed - and as it is at logoff -does that eliminate software errors and make it a hardware error or ???

Follow these instructions to post a Dump Data Log.

If you do not have a dump, ensure that your machine is configured to write out a dump by following the directions from microsoft

Some very generic things to do -

    1. Run chkdsk /f on all your partitions.
    2. Test RAM
    3. Empty all temp files/folders
    4. Check for driver updates for your hardware.
