This is my first Thread here. As you will see my english's not very good, but I can understand well...I'm from Chile.
The thing is that I have this problem, the Error STOP: 0x00000024... A very close friend asked me to make his computer speedier but I think I made something bad...well, I know what to do, the CD with the Instalation, etc, but...The real problem is that this computer is very old, a Compaq Evo N620-C...He told me that he upgraded it to vista (had xp) but the DVD-CD unit didn't worked anymore. I worked all night making a USB with xp with auto-installation in boot, but the BIOS is very old, and it won't boot from an USB...
If you guys could help me I'll be very grateful, I'm very dessperate with this thing, and I'm sad 'bout my friend... I don't know how to tell him...

I looked up your error code, and there are apparently two causes for this.

The file system or partition structure is corrupted.
A driver compatibility issue exists. For example, the file system driver for an antivirus program or for other utility can cause this issue.

To check for the first one, you will need two items. A can of air and a XP CD/Vista DVD. Open the DVD player and use the compressed air to clear out the dust. The lense probably is dusty and causing the laser to malfunction. Then boot up with your CD, using XP choose Recovery Console, with Vista choose System Recovery Options then Command Prompt.
    Then do this command:
    chkdsk /r
This can take a very long time, be sure to have the laptop plugged in.

    Uhmm

Thanks for your help and for responding, but i'm very sure it isn't problem of dust or something like that, it's a term of drivers...and i can't get into the pc...
