Hello again. :) Quick question. I always have my Computer on, use DSL, and most times just to move the mouse to get things up and running again. Quite often, tho, it doesn't matter how much I move the mouse, it will not wake things up. The only way I know of getting restarted is to turn off the thing by the button on my modem and turn back on. Then of course I get the "don't turn off like that speil. Is there a "proper way" to get the thing going again, or is it doing something and I should wait, and if this is the only way to jump start things, am I harming the computer by turning off and on like this??? Appreciate any help received. You guys are a Godsend!!! Thank you for help for this "thick one "!!

From other posts on this board it appears that Win 98 and "Standby" do not always get along. Do a search for "standby" in the Windows 98 forum (search button at top of this page ") and have a read at some of the posts and possible solutions to them.:)

Post back if you have any questions/concerns etc. I am sure someone else will have some info on this topic.

This is the entire problem, 98 doesn't work well running 24/7. Your GDI resources are being used up, and the only way to free them is to reboot.
The best solution is to do a Shut Down and leave it off when going to sleep.

Power Management is a known troublemaker in Windows 98. Just don't use it. And, as the others said, restart your computer from time to time.
