I tried to delte some programs from my start up by unchecking them ( I ran MSCONFIG- Startup). When I reboot I get several messages:

Cannot locate files ( looks like 4 to nine squares-no file name) and not in the registry. Use the search function to find the files. I rechecked all of the start up files but still receive the meaage when I reboot.

I see the squares in the start up but do not know what files they are related to so I am afrid to delete them.

Unchecking an entry in msconfig > startup tab merely disables that item from being started at boot - it does not delete them. You can go back to msconfig at any time and re-enable.
Generally an indication of an unknown font - I would view that as suspicious. Leave them enabled for now and scan your computer with HJT and post the log here ....

Please download HijackThis through Quicklinks in my signature and save it to a folder on your hard drive, say C:\HJT - not to the Desktop or a temporary location. When entries are fixed with HJT a backup is made to the folder from which HJT is run and this must be in a permanent location.

Open the folder in which you placed HJT and double click on hijackthis.exe and select Scan and save a log file - this will be saved in the folder from which you ran HJT and post the log here
