Start up & shut down problem

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am using Windows 98SE and when I boot my PC I get the following message on a blue screen but I'm able to continue but I still have to do some CTRL, ALT, DELETES to get to my desk top, A lot of my functions do not respond. the only thing I did before this problem was to install Easy CD Creator 5 before uninstalling Nero. I've tried everything that has been possible including using the Safe Mode HELP but when I chose one of the radio buttons and go to next all I get is a blank window ---> An exception 0E occurred at 0028:00570056 in VXD---. This was called from 0028:C18379E0 inVXD Voltrack(04)+00000430.

I assume you have probably found a solution by now - but I have a similar problem - and will be trying the following:
    1. Start Windows in Safe mode
    2. De-install Nero
    3. Re-install Nero WITHOUT InCD v4.x <---- this is the suspected culprit
    4. Reboot

This SHOULD solve it from my understanding of what I've learned from google research. i.e. InCD v4.x is incompatible with certain CDRW/DVDRW hardware. If you can live without InCD, then do. If not, try the latest InCD download from Nero. (But one user found this only served to corrupt his registry and blew his Windows partition, so I won't be trying it...) HTH.

Just to update my previous post..de-install of Nero OEM Suite v6 and a reboot did not clear up the problem...had to remove all vestiges of Nero from the registry with regedit. Result: Windows boots nicely again.

Then I bravely installed the Nero bits I wanted - omitting InCD - and I'm happily writing DVDs again. (No startup problems after three days....fingers crossed.)

    Hope this helps, y'all. :)
