I work with windows XP. I have a Dell computer with 512 RAM. The start up takes a long time. When I go into msconfig and start up it is very confusing to tell which program I can actually remove from start up. Is there a utility program that will help me in removing some of these start up programs

    Hello Jerry,

You're going to have to look them up at startup/process data bases linked to in this thread http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=39425

In msconfig, once you decide which to disable, uncheck them. If its a program(s) you don't want or need, then uninstall, but, startups are usually legitimate apps that may be added to the startup folders gratuitously; you have to decide whether that is true with the help of the info from the databases.

If they refuse to stay disabled - the post I referenced links to tools to help.

    Regards - Charles
