While surfing the web, my computer hangs and the screen keeps blinking. So i manually restart the computer, but the screen when you just start up the computer, the one where its all black and you see the manufacturer or something. The thing is that everything is messed up. Theres a whole lot of "!" on it and the spelling is messed up too. (nvdia becomes ovdia etc). I tried running in normal mode and after the loading screen, it just go to a black screen and windows wont load. I tried several things such as reverting to last good configuration but no luck. However, after much restarts i finally am able to start my computer again. But after few hours of usage, while playing a video game, my computer hangs and the screen keeps blinking. And now no matter how much i restart it wont work. I have no idea what to do so ANY help would be appreciated

EDIT : i can run in VGA mode but i just cant run in normal mode. Also, after waiting for sometime after the black screen, a somewhat distorted image of the welcome screen(?) appeared.

    kenshinz92 - Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

From your first posted image - the other two links don't work for me - it would appear that you have a problem with your graphics card driver, the card itself or the monitor.

First step is to uninstall/reinstall your graphics drivers. If you don't know if your graphics are on a chip on the motherboard or via a plug in video card download and run SIW and look under Hardware > Video - Display Adaptor.

Check the manufacturer's site for the latest drivers - or your OEM site if the computer is HP, Gateway, etc.

Uninstall all graphics related software through Add/Remove Programs and install the new copy/version.

If this fails to resolve the problem you will need to go inside the case and carefullly remove the graphics card - if you have a plug in card, clean the contacts with a soft pencil eraser - down the contacts, not across and degrease with an alcohol based cleaner. Refit and test.

If the problem remains the card may be faulty.

If you have onboard graphics - chip on the motherboard - this cannot be removed of course.

In either case it might help to update the motherboard chipset drivers - these should be obtainable from the computer maker if OEM or from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

Another test - if possible - substitute the monitor for one which is known to be functional.

There are other reasons why you are experiencing this problem and the computer hanging while on the internet is not necessarily related to the graphics problem, but this is enough to be going on with at the moment.

    Post back with your progress.
