At Start-up, I get an error message that warns me that a scheduled task did not run. In Task Scheduler, I see it's McAfee.com Update that never runs. I delete it from the T.S. I uncheck "Check for filter Updates automatically" in the settings for McAfee's Spamkiller, which is the only McAfee program I have.
Still it returns as an error message at every start-up, and when I check T.S. it's back there. Meanwhile, I've re-checked for filter updates automatically, since that didn't seem to help.
    Any other ideas? Anybody?

    Hello aks,

Right click on the scheduled task > properties and you can see what actually is scheduled to run.

Look thru the tabs and see what the settings are. Is anything there that doesn't look right? What is the schedule? Run only if logged on? Or only at a specified time? In the settings tab - look at the conditions that it will run under.

    Regards - Charles

Do you log on to your computer with a password? If not, scheduled tasks won't run. You can work around this by creating a password for your account and then using Tweak UI to automatically log on for you. In TweakUI click the plus next to logon and then on autologon. From there it's pretty much self explanatory.

    McAfee.com update

Charlesvar and Zander, thank you both for responding. It turns out I have McAfee Security Center (came with SpamKiller, I guess), and it was causing the problem. I configured it to not schedule updates AND deleted the scheduled updates from Task Scheduler, and voila! Problem solved. Finally!
