When I run "Search" in Win7 (64), I get a list of suggestions. If I follow up on one, and it's a dead end, the suggestion list has by then disappeared and I have to retype my search terms again (ie, start all over). Is there any way to keep the list visible until I'm through searching? Thnx

At he bottom is an hour glass with the phrase "see more results" this will open explorer with an expanded list which will not disappear. Or when you wish to do a search hit the F3 keyboard key.

While windows 7 search is great once you learn how to use it, I got a few search applications goodies I like to use, also. Suggestions:

This would be an example of one I use:

Many swear by ransak. One version is free.

May I suggest, if you haven't done so already, that you take a bit of time and read up on the use and customizing options one can do with win7 "search ". I guarantee this will be time well spent. This app has some tricks (bells and whistles) to it's use but you need to made aware of how to access and use them.:

Short on time and or patience:
this link and the sublinked topics (located at the bottom) covers the basics:

goddez1...that expanded list is a bit clumsy, I may try one of those 3rd party solutions. Thnx.

Vista has a "save search" button when searches are done in Win Explorer. Odds are Win 7 has the same button.

S&G...Thanks, that's another way. But it would be much more useful for casual searches if the list just stayed open until I clicked it shut. [Can you tell I'm not a fan of 7?]
