    The "Start>Run" menu where you Type in the programs you want to run, when I restart Windows All the entries I entered are gone. Is there a way I can keep the entered programs from disappearing? I run Win98SE.

    Thanks:

    When you clean your history this will include the "MRU list ". An old tip for using the runline as a tool, for running *.exe used as tools, was to make a new running list of these by typing them in a clean runline. Once you get all the entry's, in the dropdown, you frequently use and wish to keep, you must open "regedit and export the hkey that this list is kept on. That way should the list be cleaned again or is deleted somehow, all you have to do is import the saved *reg key back into your registry.

    The hkey is:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ RunMRU

    If you need "specific" help in how to do this or further explanation on what a reg patch is and how it works, just append to post and further help can be given.

    ==========
    You may want to give some thought into making a separate folder to hold "customized" shortcuts that will still run your often used runlines.

    Hi rjshenal,

    This requires modifing a registry key so if you're not familiar with the registry make a back up first.

    Click Start>Run and enter regedit. Click ok.

    Navigate to HKey Users/Default/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Run MRU

    In the right panel right click on MRUList and click Modify. Enter a-z as the value data. ( Actually this can be modified to suit your needs. If you just want 10 entries to be saved then just enter a-j as the value data and the drop down list will only keep the first 10 entries.)

    Ok your way out and restart your computer.

    Hope this helps.
