Whenever I put my computer on Standby, it always pops back on after a half a minute or so. I make sure I have no programs running that would keep it on, but it still won't stay. Is there any way I can fix this?

    Hi, CPUDude521.

Perhaps your computer's network interface hardware (if you have it) settings are causing your issue.

Go to your System Properties window. One way to get there:
Hold down your Windows key and press your Pause key.

In your System Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager button > expand Network Adapters, double-click on your adapter's name (or right-click and select "Properties ") and check the properties of your network adapter.

For example, I have a 3com Gigabit LOM network adapter built into my motherboard. The Power Management tab in its properties has a check box for "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby." with the following warning below it:

Perhaps your network interface hardware's properties has a similar setting that needs to be disabled.

My first thought was you might have an unsecured wireless network and someone nearby is leeching your wireless. However, I have no familiarity with wireless networking so I may be way off base with that idea.

Please let us know if this works for you.

To add to what mailman has posted look in Device Manager at each USB hub - double click for properties > Power Management and ensure that 'Allow this device to bring this computer out of standby' is NOT checked.

Awesome! That worked! I figured that was what the problem was since I recently changed my network adapter.
