I had to reinstall Windows XP on my new computer. Before I reinstalled,
when I shut down I got the standard shutdown box with the choices of log off
shut down or restart. Since I reinstalled XP, now when I click shut down
from the start menu, I get something called a Windows security window with
different tabs for lock computer, change user, log off, task manager and
shutdown. Does anyone know how to get the old box back with just the
    shutdown options on it?
    :)

Interesting. That box usually only appears when you press CTRL-ALT-DEL.

Try setting to use the classic start menu (right-click an empty space on the task bar and then click properties). If that gives you the start~shutdown box you expect you can either leave yourself set for classic or I think if you set back to the XP standard, you'll see buttons at the bottom for logout and shutdown.

When you right-click on the taskbar, make sure the "lock taskbar" option is not checked.
