I have a Windows 2000 Pc and in the task mgr it shows 'sqlserver.exe' running and taking about 34mb memory.

Now, the user is not running any sql apps. I do have the Pc on my network connected to a server that has sql running but she is only accessing a mapped drive on the server for storage. Nothing else.

Why is sqlserever.exe running on the Pc.

    Help.
    Bill

Someone would have had to install it. It's probably MSDE, the stripped down version.

Well.... it depends. sqlserver.exe is usually a worm/trojan. The Microsoft SQL server executable is called sqlservr.exe.
