    Hi,

I was downloading a program called touchcopy off the internet. It was free so i downloaded it and extracted it. When i opened it, my computer froze and installed windows anitvirus 2008 and put the back ground of my computer as this..

"WARNING: SPYWARE DETECTED ON YOUR COMPUTER! INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS OR SPYWARE REMOVER TO CLEAN YOUR COMPUTER. "

I try and go to properties and change it but the desktop tab has been deleted. The Windows Antivirus 2008 program it installed is going insane saying that there are 16 viruses on my computer but its a virus itself so i dont think its right. I completely deleted the touchcopy program but it wont let me uninstall the windows anitvirus. Pop ups are coming up and i dont know what to do. I restarted my computer and it went to a erroe page and said it was gonna shut down to prevent damage but it never did. I ran hijack this and this came up..

    Hi wheresthedisco

I don't believe this is a info stealer, just a pain in the behind. If I find out otherwise by searching your logs I'll let you know.

Lets see if MBAM will take care of this one.

    Please do the following.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) from here or here and save the file to your desktop.

Double click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select 'Perform Quick Scan', then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note below)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Post the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Now please post a dss main txt log.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges to complete the following.
    • Close all other windows before proceeding.
    • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
    • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy and then paste the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Please post the dss "main.txt" log only and the MBAM log.

    Thanks
    Geri

    hi again,

i worked on it all last night and i think i got it off, or most of it for that matter. I ran the malware program twice today but i cant find the log. The first time i ran it i had a bunch of stuff that i deleted and then the second time i ran the full scan and it only came up with two things. Do you have any idea where i could find the log file for it?

    Excuse the interruption, please

Do you have a link to where you downloaded the touchcopy software? Do you still have the installer? If so, please upload it to my submission channel for analysis. Leave a link back to this topic.

    Thanks!
