hi i have windows xp,i seem to have picked up this programme somehow, i disconnected the internet cable.tried a restore in normal and safe mode but pc wouldnt do it.checked programmes for removal - not there. ran adware and adwatch and etrust scans, found data miners and a trojan, deleted them.however the spyware keeps turning off the firewall, wont let me access net as it keeps hijacking my home page , tried changing the home page in case it was attched to tiscali but that didnt work either.cleared cookies.. am now using sons laptop which running etrust full system scan again. got to the limit i think of things i know to look for, realise i have picked up something nasty but now think its too technical for me to sort ? can anybody advise me please -even if its only to tell me i shouldnt have done any of the above and just take it to a shop ! thanks fo your time, cheryl:confused:

    Hi Cheryl,

Do you have a usb flash drive that you can transfer some files with? If so, visit the following webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

    How to use ComboFix

Download ComboFix by sUBs from here, saving the file to your flash drive. Give the file a different name before saving it though, something like kitty.exe would work nicely. Now transfer it to the desktop of the affected computer.

Disable realtime protection applications as they sometimes interfere with the tool. Check this link for your applicable programs.

    • Close all open programs and windows
    • Double click kitty.exe and follow the prompts.
    • It may reboot your computer and resume running when you logon. Wait for it to complete. When finished, it will open a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
