Updated detections and an updated immunization database are available for manual download.

Updated to the latest defs and immunization database yesterday. Running took 23 minutes - just unheard of in my case, never had a problem like this. Anyone else?

Don't think its SP2 - have run SSD after SP2 and ran like it always has.

The scan priority is set at normal - and that's the way its always been. Will try upping that setting to see if that makes a difference - will report back.

    Regards - Charles

Funny thing...Mine says latest defs dated Sep 16 and no updates available. Maybe the Spybot site is too busy?

    Hi Bill,

I was on vacation and didn't get to update until yesterday - so the update of the 16th is the latest.

Set the scan priority to "higher" and that does resolve the slow scan problem - back to under 5 minutes. I sort of thought that would make a difference when I noticed on the slow scan, SSD hardly made a dent in RAM usage.

Still a puzzle as to why I had to do this. The added definitions were not that big of a download. A possibility may be that with the newer defs in combo with a post SP2 Windows that is a lot bigger, SSD has to scan that much more. I'm just supprised I haven't run across anyone complaining about it, at least not here.

    Regards - Charles

I did the same update from home on DSL with XP-SP2 and it took about the same amount of time as always. Didn't need to bump the priority or anything.

Using 09/16/2004 updates my scan (home PC running WinXP SP2 on DSL) ran the normal 5 to 6 minutes to which I 'm happy to say I'm free of scumware...woohoo! :D

    Hey Kent,

Just under 5 minutes is what I'm back to now.

One thing though, what has DSL have to do with this? I was complaining about off-line scanning. Does this have anything to do with the fact that you guys have the Resident processes enabled?

    Regards - Charles

My comment was a matter of reading too fast and understanding too little. I thought you were talking about the time needed to download and update the app. Oops.

    Hi Newt,

Re-reading my first post, I can understand why you thought that:

The first two sentences didn't make clear that I meant scanning.

Updated to the latest defs and immunization database yesterday. Running took 23 minutes - just unheard of in my case, never had a problem like this. Anyone else?

I have so much admiration for people that can write really well and get their ideas across - I try :)

Its my wife who is the writer in the family with the kids next and me trailing behind the three of them.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks Kent - I appreciate it. I won't go into a riff on it though, you remember Johanna's - I wasn't even in the woods by myself and got into trouble :)
